Chocolate pancakes + whipped cream = A decadent breakfast.

I hope your Valentine’s Day was just as sweet!

Chocolate pancakes
recipe torn from the pages of an old Sunset magazine

Makes 8 pancakes; 4 servings

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 cup milk
About 3 tablespoons oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

sweetened whipped cream
sliced strawberries (original recipe calls for raspberries or bananas)

In a bowl, stir sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add flour and mix. In a small bowl, beat egg with milk, oil and vanilla. Add egg mixture and chocolate chips to flour mixture, stir until evenly moistened. Spoon onto griddle. When finished, top with whipped cream and strawberries.
